Refurbished TC Beirne Building Reinvigorates the Fortitude Valley

As a centrepiece of food, beverage and retail amenity in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley we’re excited to see the recently refurbished TC Beirne Building reinvigorate the architectural heritage of one of the area’s most distinctive precincts.

With a dual street presence to the China Town and Brunswick Street Malls, the laneway allows for a unique connection between the two precincts, linking both through a new urban retail precinct at ground level.

In reimagining these tenancies there was a focus on re-introducing texture and materiality; the rich and complementary palette offers surprise and delight to patrons as they move through the space while a feature atrium within the central arcade celebrates the heritage volume that extends upwards into the commercial spaces above.

Adding further animation, our Bx team designed and implemented an urban art installation to create a sense of vibrancy and movement. The hand-painted mural is projected onto a brick feature wall with a graphic style referencing the building’s origin.

Buchan worked in close collaboration with our client Ashe Morgan to deliver architectural, branding and wayfinding services that collectively celebrate and reclaim this precinct as a premier destination for the area.
