An intriguing look behind the scenes as one of Buchan’s creatives shows the sketchy origins of how architectural design is born before the idea becomes a 3d image with the help of our viz team.
Buchan principal, Allen Lucini likes to express ideas through freehand sketching. It is his way of communicating and exploring. Allen keeps his pencils and crayons, notebook and roll of trace paper close by and makes time each day to draw.
Allen also draws for clients in design workshops where he shows his ideas while brainstorming with the team. This is a simple way to help clients visualise a design concept, and in many cases engage them in the process. It’s not about creating a masterpiece, its about jotting down an idea and putting out a design in a physical form.
From such sketches – some frivolous, some functional, some fantastical – a building is born.
