The Wenty Leagues new multi-deck carpark provides club patrons with 780 new spaces to park across six levels.
The local council challenged Buchan to provide a design which avoided the conventional slab-on façade facing the Great Western Highway. The development also had to meet a cost plan which required a car park design without a mechanical system for ventilation.
Buchan took on the challenge, and turned it into the fundamental principles of the car park façade design. This was achieved through the introduction of a permeable façade system with expressed perforations.
In addition to providing architecture services for this project, Buchan were also involved in the design and delivery of the graphics and branding that is expressed in the façade. Look for the elusive Wenty’s Magpie, which features at the prominent corner of the carpark alongside the clubs logo. This effect was achieved by playing on the opening sizes the perforations on the façade to create the Magpie image.
